Catalyst 9.7 on T400?

Now that catalyst 9.7 is recently out, has anyone tried this on their T400? I've heard rumours about catalyst supporting switchable graphics by default (a.k.a not just via manufacturer's special mod, e.g. thinkpad power manager). Can someone enlighten me on this?

Anyway, I'm running the latest ATI driver from lenovo for T400, but modded the catalyst control center to 9.4 to enable the auto-switching of graphics in different power scheme.

shinigami7th,

An interesting subject. A little research discloses that AMD/ATI seems to release a new driver/Catalyst CC package for the T400/T500 chipset virtually every month while Lenovo updates the driver components maybe 3x/year.

What's the history of TP Forum members running the authentic ATI code? Do the OEM releases actually work? Are they worth the effort? Catalyst only?

Insights, comments appreciated.

The major problem appears to not be getting the updated graphics driver, but having switchable graphics working properly on-the-fly.

There has existed many applications that will allow you to use the normal desktop driver and run it on a notebook, from past experience. However switchable graphics is on the verge of priority and I believe is supported through the power manager software.
