Power cable disconnects LAN

Hey

I use a T400 at work, with Windows XP Pro. I only got the laptop a few weeks ago. I find that everytime I plug in the power cable the laptop seems to refresh, and I find that my LAN cable is 'disconnected' even though it is still plugged in. The power cable is in the socket and switched on most of the time.

Does anyone know why this happens, as it never happened with my old T61? Or any ways to prevent it?

Thanks

It sounds like you're problem lies with the power management features.

I can only assume that it didn't come from Lenovo preconfigured with WinXP and that when your IT department wiped it and installed the defaults, the power management software wasn't properly configured. Go into Device Manager and check your ethernet adapter's advanced property pages for any power management features. It might just be configured to shut down when on battery power. It would also be a good idea to go through your Power Manager (whether you're using Lenovo's or the native one) and check for anything that might affect your problem.

I checked the power management of my ether net adapter and the "turn off..." box was ticked, so unticked and the problem has gone.

Thanks for your help
