I see that Lenovo is now selling the 256GB SSD by itself for $849. However, it appears that the largest SSD hard drive they are selling as an option when purchasing a new computer is 128GB. Any idea on when Lenovo will start allowing 228GB SSD's to be put into newly purchased T400s computers? Ty

Dell sells the Samsung second gen 256gb SSD for $479 atm. This is a very fast and reliable drive.
The Dell part number is 341-9999. Lists as $479. If you can get a 15% off E&A coupon and it goes down to $400.

It's been my experience that sometimes the part appears separately before they offer it as an upgrade option. In many cases it's just days, or a week or two, then it appears in the list of components to choose from when configuring your new ThinkPad.
Cheers...
