I think this part reveals that it was used:

I think the system is nearly new. Got it from ebay.

Seeing as the warranty expires in July 2012, it must have been purchased sometime in July, which is quite recent. Either way, I think it was a good deal. :)

Hey QL, good to see you over here too! Are you going to install a different version of Windows on it?

This is really a small world....

Might try W7 later on, but I'm sure Vista would run just fine - with tweaks here and there. :P not really wanting XP again.

Haha... small world indeed!

I don't blame you for not wanting to go back to XP - I couldn't do it either (except for those rare cases where an old game's drivers aren't well supported in Vista, *cough* Falcon 4 *cough*). I think I might try Windows 7 soon... maybe put it on the R61 and see if people become more interested.

Cough cough, is that legal? it's not meant to be around until nearly November.
:BAAAD!:

So you decided to keep T400, and let R61 go? wouldn't blame you consider the extra warranty on T400. Three days no news, and suddenly the machine passed the custom, and is due here tomorrow. I don't quite under USPS's gramma though.

Retail version of Windows 7 will be released on October 22nd and it was already released on November 6th to MSDN subscribers so it might already be legal.

I was thinking of installing the RC version - I don't have the retail version. Is it not allowed to sell a machine with Windows 7 RC on it? If so it's good to know since I haven't done it yet.

QL, so you are getting it on the 17th? I feel your pain man... do I get it today, do I get it tomorrow, what? I wish courier services could be more accurate. UPS is pretty up-to-date most of the time but sometimes the information is two days old.

Oh and, I remembered something after reading your post over on NBR about warranty. I called Lenovo's warranty department since my Windows COA sticker on the bottom says Lenovo Singapore, even though the warranty lookup online says it's in the U.S. They told me the COA sticker only signifies the place of manufacture but if the warranty were in a place other than the U.S. I may not receive service. I don't remember if this is specifically for on-site or whether it is the same for depot, so I recommend you to give 'em a call tomorrow, after you get it.

Hey, out of curiosity what was the name of the seller you bought from?

I too got my T400 from ebay with a very long world-wide warranty, it appears brand new but some comments have made me think it might be "too good to be true".

Thanks.
