Boot problems using FileMate SolidGo SSD

Hello All,

I have a T400 with expresscard slot and I bought a 32GB FileMate SolidGo SSD drive and cloned the drive using TrueImage s/w. Everything went fine and I started the system booting from SSD and XP booting screen starts and all of a sudden BSOD's with 'inaccessible boot device'.

Is anyone successful booting into XP using this type of SSD (i.e. express card SSD)?

thanks for any help.

Just a guess, but I think you're running into the same problem as booting XP from USB. The Windows kernel (ntoskrnl.exe) will load it's own USB drivers which causes the USB device tree to be reloaded and 'breaks' any connection with the boot device. It's likely that something like that is happening with your ExpressCard SSD.

There is a way to boot from USB which involves a pre-boot execution environment, and you may have some luck with using that method with the SSD.

AFAIK, You cannot boot off of an expresscard device - this includes expresscard SATA controllers as well. There are a few documented cases of this on the official lenovo support forums, I think there is one particular post on there that is similar to yours (a user trying to boot off of expresscard SSD) without success.

*EDIT* here is the link to that post.
