Creating recovery media

Hi,

I bought a T400s today. It came with Vista Prof which I will replace with Win 7 as soon as I can. I can't figure out how to create recovery CDs for my Vista installation. In the user's guide, it says "...be sure to create a Product Recovery disc. This can be done from the Create Recovery Media choice in the ThinkVantage section of the main Windows menu." However, this option does not exist there.

I do assume that creating OS backup media is different from the "Back up your hard drive" option available in Recue and Recovery. Any ideas?

Thanks!

If the option isn't there, call Lenovo and complain. They'll send you the CDs for free.

From the ThinkVantage menu go to "Security, Protection and Recovery" and select "Back up my data". (It looks like you have this step down :))

Once the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery application loads on the bottom left click "Launch advanced Rescue and Recovery". This will open a new menu with more options. Click "Back up your hard drive" and it will load the "Create a backup" window. From here you can select "Create a backup to CDs/DVDs".

It will create a complete backup with a bootable recovery disc.

Thanks! I even had this advanced step down, but assumed creating "clean" OS backup media was different from creating a complete backup. I'm wiser now :)
