New T400, and it's got some bugs

Just got a new T400 from the Outlet, 7417-CTO
2.26 8400 processor
1GB memory
2gb turbo memory [edited to add: figured this out, and installed the not-driver]
160GB HDD
Intel graphics w/1440x900 lcd (not sure if CCFL or LED)
Card reader
Fingerprint sensor
Not sure what else is options and what is standard.
PC came with XP loaded, but Vista on the recovery disks. No idea what's on the preload partition. The XP install had tons of cruft and was really slow.
I partition into a windows and a data drive, and I need to use XP for school, so I did a clean install of (my own) XPSP2 then all the updates including SP3. Installed all the drivers I could find on the Lenovo page for my machine type. Installed much of the Lenovo/Thinkpad software again too. BIOS 3.01 / 1.03
Problem 1. I still have the PCI Simple communication controller and an Unknown device without drivers. [edited - this is AMT, which is the intel management engine. How can I disable this so that it doesn't freak out? I tried in BIOS - the laptop didn't like that much.]
Problem 2. Fingerprint security doesn't work. The scanner itself works (if you view the tutorial it will show you your scans as you do them, and that works) but it says it has N/A slots and then gives a communication error if you select a finger. ???
Problem 3. Boot time is forever. This is worse than my R51 Pentium M1.5 machine.
Problem 4. Client Security Solutions won't install properly. TPM won't install at all.
Problem 5. I'm confused as to what security options I need to enable/disable in BIOS - any pointers or explanations of what is what?
So basically I'm trying to get this thing tuned up and sleek so I can use it at school. Any suggestions?
