Can I remove some of the Lenovo/ThinkPad startup programs

#1 Post by salin » Thu Sep 03, 2009 4:41 pm

My computer seems to run ok, but I have a ton of startup programs. Takes too long to shut down and start up.

I have removed the startup programs that I'm comfortable removing with my limited knowledge.

But, there's a whole bunch of Lenovo/ThinkPad startup's running. I was wondering if they are all necessary.

Should I send a Hijack log for review?

I appreciate any and all help.

I got my T400s about two weeks ago. The first thing I did was wipe the drive and install a clean copy of Vista Business 64 bit. I dont find most of the Lenovo software very useful. It just slows the computer down. I had to search the Lenovo site for a couple of drivers (video, WiFi, Ethernet...) but that was no big deal. Lenovo is certainly better than most OEM's in terms of the crapware that is installed, but I find that a fresh copy of Windows without any crapware runs great on most new computers. I did install the active protection software and a few other Lenovo applications. My T400s is a replacement for an R61. It is by far the best laptop I have ever owned.

Yes you can remove some of them from your startup and it completely depend to yourself that which one of these programs do you need or not .
for example i didn't need client security solution and when i change my windows I didn't install it until two weeks ago that I want to know something about it .
Once I read a article about Intel(R) Common User Interface and someone said it is not necessary to let this program run and it just waste memory and etc and I REMOVE it from startup . 8)
One things that I want to add and it is that RAM capacity very important in notebooks and how much you have more of it , it is better .

I hope I understand what you said and it can help you .

After my last Vista install, i removed almost every lenovo program. Right now, i use power manager (only because of the switchable graphics) and active protection. Thats it.

Acces Connections, Client Security and so on are all GONE!
