T400s blank screen on lid close

#1 Post by mintcoffee » Tue Sep 29, 2009 1:30 pm

I'm running Arch Linux with the Intel 2.9.0 driver with KMS and my screen doesn't seem to blank (backlight + image off) when I close the lid. Does this problem happen on Windows? Any other Linux users experiencing this problem?

No issues with Windows. Also, when you disconnect AC power supply, it blinks when it switches to battery (due to Lenovo drivers) and than goes back up.

Thanks for the reply. I did some digging into the intel-gfx mailing list and it turns out the non-blanking behaviour is due the current limitation of the Linux i915 kernel driver (when using kernel-modesetting). The next kernel release (2.6.32) should fix this problem, and for those that are interested, I can post the patches for getting support for this feature into the current kernel.
