Why is T500 screen not centered?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a known reason why the T500's screen is off to the right and thus not centered. Is it because of the broadband antenna or something? I recall that an X series model had that antenna as an option yet the screen was centered.

Thanks.

It's off center to make room for the antenna system. This is a design feature that is not uncommon in later model Thinkpads ...

I ordered my T400 (has the same offset) without realizing this. A few days later, I noticed on a high res photo that it was indeed off centered, and was rather annoyed.

There's a happy ending though: the dark black border isn't eye-catching and I don't notice at all when using my laptop. In addition, the wider left side makes it easier to open and adjust the screen (which I often do with my left hand as my right hand is opening the latch) without sticking my thumb on the screen and leaving a nasty mark.

But that's just me :P
