New T400 Data Retention

#1 Post by whizkid » Sat Dec 05, 2009 12:37 pm

Hey all, I just got a new T400 from the Lenovo Outlet. It came with Windows Vista, but I am entitled to Windows 7, and will be putting that and Fedora Linux on the machine.

In order to recover the machine, what do I need to do?

I have already made the Product Recover Discs. Is there anything else? What would you folks do?

Thanks

That should be sufficient. However, it was my experience once that the DVD media was spoil, so I didn't discover it till the next time I tried to reset my laptop. With today's burner, maybe there would have some sort of verification after burning so there is less chance of error.

Anyway, being careful, I would do a system restore just by pressing the blue button. After completion, i would burn a second set of DVD and then find an external harddisk and CLONE my lenovo harddisk.

So now I have 3 recovery source.
Do what is important, not what is urgent

Excellent ideas. Thanks!

The media creation software does include a verification, so I'm pretty confident the media are good... for now. Making another set is a good idea, and perhaps I will even try to use a set to ensure it is good.
