LED swap in T400

Quick question guys: can we straight-swap an LED-backlit panel (complete) into an LCD-equipped T400? Are the connectors on the mobo the same? I am assuming the inverter etc would be a non-issue as I want to swap the complete display assembly (whole panel inc lid cover and frame etc - basically anything from the hinges up). Has anyone ever done it and if so, what were the issues and how were they resolved?

Thx for your feedback!

The whole lid part would have to be replaced. The LCD cable is different too.

Thx, I wanted to change the whole lid/display assembly in any case. Does that mean LED displays have different connectors? Are the mobo's different for LED displays?

The mobo is the same and same connector. The screen has a different connector and the LCD cable is different.

This is *possible* but pretty complex. As mentioned, the connectors on the panels are different and there are lots of other things that have to come out.

I swapped LCD-for-LCD to get a higher quality and higher resolution panel, and this only required taking the top bezel/frame apart and carefully replacing the screen.

I would say that doing LCD-for-LCD requires a moderate amount of confidence and tinkering ability, and takes a couple of hours.

Doing an LED for LCD swap would probably be at least twice as much time and lots more potential things to get wrong.

Personally I don't think the battery life difference is worth it, and you can get very high quality/resolution LCD panels that will easily integrate into your existing system.

FYI: I used "LCDS4LESS" to get my replacement panel and I was pretty happy with them.
