Any T410/T510 reviews pop up yet?

I got word that my T40p is officially dead now (unrecoverable solder joint casualty). Fortunately I suppose for me, I was planning on springing for an upgrade anyway when the T400 refresh (T410) hit the scene.

I'm really liking the specs of the T410S so far, (I will be lugging it around to school for the next year and a half), but I'm not opposed to a T510 either feature dependent. The only thing that REALLY irks me about the T510 is the 16:9 display. It makes no logical sense to put such a screen on a business laptop, unless there just are not any more 15 inch 16:10 panels to be sourced. (That and their new naming scheme HD, HD+, and FHD. Common Lenovo, I want numbers not marketing buzz words.

I was just wondering if anyone here has a new model yet, or if there are any reviews yet on the net. (I've done a quicky Google search, and hit up notebookreviews.com with no luck yet.) I am trying to decide whether the new model is worth picking up when I can get a virtual steal on a T400/T500 right now.

I have a T510 on the way, I selected the FHD hi nit display so as to see first hand just what it's like. When it comes to displays, I too enjoy the 4:3 IPS of my T60/p's but time marches on & things change. I have no intensions of ever watching a movie on it, so it will be interesting to see just what it's like for work.
.
Cheers...

Looking forward to your review...including why you chose the T over the W.

Happy New Year!

archer6, I for one will be eagerly looking forward to your review, especially with regards to readability of the T510/W510 FHD (1920x1080) high resolution LCD screen--will the fonts be too small?

My current T42 SXGA+ 14.1" LCD: 1400 x 1050 (= 124 pixels per inch, which is max I'm comfortable with). LCD screen size: 286x216mm. 1050 pixels in 216mm LCD height. This SXGA+ on 14.1" 4:3 LCD screen is the ideal readability for me.

T500 WSXGA+ 15.4" LCD: 1680 x 1050 (=128 pixels per inch, roughly same as my T42). 16:10 screen ratio.
LCD screen size: 332x207mm. 1050 pixels in 207mm LCD height.

T510 FHD 15.6" LCD: 1920 x 1080 (=141 pixels per inch, very small fonts!)
LCD screen size: 346x195mm. 1080 pixels in 195mm LCD height. 16:9 screen.

To put this into perspective, T510 FHD is about the same pixel density as T500 WUXGA 1920 x 1200 = 148 pixels per inch, LCD screen size 332x207mm. 1200 pixels in 207mm LCD height.). 16:10 screen ratio.

I want 1 1000+ pixel vertical height LCD screen, makes work more productive less vertical scrolling, but I'm concerned that T510 LCD screen of 141 pixels per inch makes the fonts look too small !

Would appreciate your thoughts on this... I'm seriously considering to buy a T500 because of the 16:10 screen for above reason...

I currently have a 15.4" 1920x1200 (Dell D830) and an (even) older 15.4" 1680x1050 (Uniwill 259EN1, kinda too slow to use now). For a long time I've been divided between both resolutions, 1200p always seemed a bit too much... but I've decided I prefer the 1200p: more space for photo editing, programming and anything in general (especially cool for 2 having documents/webpages side-by-side), but default 140% zoom on Firefox :)

Now I'm looking into the T410s :D as soon as switchable graphics are really confirmed, either by 1st buyer review or Lenovo website update, I think I'll snatch one! Unfortunately, rumor has it that they will only be available mid-Feb.

PS: this is my 1st post :) I've been lurking around for some time, but I created an account in order to "watch" certain T410s threads :D

EDIT: correcting 15.6" -> 15.4"

I used an x61T sxga+ with pixel density around 145. As long as its within 2-3ft away, I can make out the text with only slight difficulties. For me, the ideal readability was a T60 14.1" with sxga+.

In regards to the pixels per inch discussion, I purposely went with the W700 17" 1920x1200 because it is basically a 4:3 1600x1200 display with a little extra on the side. I can't imagine using a smaller display at 1920. I might not be able to see it a few years from now. My formerly perfect eyes are just now starting to go bad. I can't even imagine someone with poor eye sight using these displays. A 15" 1600x1200 or 17" 1920x1200 is fine, but that's it. 15.x" 1920x1200 or 1080 is just too small. If I were 20 years younger, I'm sure I would feel different, but I'm only 38 now!!!

The good news is that scaling system fonts in Windows 7 appears to finally work properly. Once people realize they can do that, there will no longer be a reason to go with lower resolutions as higher ppi counts will allow for much clearer screens.
