Screen Artifacting on T500

I just installed Win 7-64 bit on my t500 a few weeks back, I have switchable graphics and whenever I am on the intel gpu I get major screen artifacting to the point where I can't read the screen anymore. Sometimes it will go away if i scroll up and down or something but othertimes it wont. I have reinstalled the ATI drivers twice now with no luck. Do I need to install the intel graphics drivers as well, I was under the impression the ATI drivers handled it all. Anyone have any idea what may be wrong? Thanks

It's a bug in the drivers. If you have 2+1GB or 2+4GB of RAM memory this will occur. Did you try to disable Aero? It might help. From what I understand the only way to fix this issue is to buy another 2GB module (2+2GB), or wait until a new graphics driver is released.

Ah, i do have 2+1, I was worried it was possibly a gpu hardware issue! Thanks a lot for clearing that up.

On the subject of ram, is there any benefit in using kingston hyperx in these laptops?

If you make sure to buy from the more well-knowns (Kingston, Corsair, G.Skill, OCZ, Crucial, Mushkin and Patriot are all good companies) then just get the cheapest stuff you can get that is compatible with your laptop.

I don't have the information handy, but I think you may be able to disable some of the virtualization related options in the BIOS to solve the problem. I had the same issue on my T400 when I had 3GB of RAM (1GB + 2GB). Disable the virtualization options fixed it, but since I needed those features, I ended up replacing the 1GB stick to match the 2GB stick.

Any updates on the artifacting issue ? I got exacly the same problem (2+1 GB ram) and using Win 7 32 Bit. I know it's a driver problem because on Vista all works fine.
Until now the only thing i can do to get rid of the artifacts is to select 16 bit color and get back to 32 and all works fine until the next reboot. I can't believe Lenovo didn't figure this one out by now
