T410 & T510 Keyboard discussion...

I'm starting this thread for the specific reason of discussing the keyboard quality & characteristics, of the T410 & T510 models.
.
After watching a video showing significant T510 keyboard flex on You Tube I am particularly concerned, as I have a T510 on order. It seems that Lenovo _still is having issues with mushy keyboards, a seeming result of the swiss cheese holes in the support panel beneath the keys. This example was missing a screw from the factory, however once that screw was replaced, the problem remains.
.
Anyone that has one of these models, please check in here with your description, and experience with the keyboard on your ThinkPad.
.
Thanks

I have a T410 coming early this week, and once it arrives, I'll do a full pictoral, benchmark review and post it to these forums.

On the keyboard subject, my X30 had flex similar in magnitude to what was shown on the youtube video, only on the left side. I was able to fully solve this problem with duct tape. See below. If my T410 should have flex of some sort, I plan on using the same 'technique' as well. (Simply layer duct tape on the edges that flex, and once the keyboard is replaced on the unit, no tape is visible, and the keyboard is a dream to type on.

Excellent, this is good news. I spend so much time on my ThinkPad I just can't deal with a flexible keyboard that moves. So could it be said that with yours turned off, when pressing the keys firmly there is no flex whatsoever? Is the keyboard truly solid at each corner and the middle?

I used the same pressure on my t61 (15.4), t500, t510. Theres flex if you press hard enough to break it.. but on regular typing, it feels normal. Even if i type hard, it doesn't flex, only when I press to the point of trying to break it

lstratos, would be interested to hear your comments comparing T500 and T510 keyboards... many thanks!

Does the T510 keyboard have less flex than the much maligned T500 keyboard?

Not sure if I posted this at another site or here,

I have the 15 T60, T61,T500, and T510

Typing normally, there is no flex, but if I put the same pressure into all the laptops, there is flexing around the W,S,X ; I,K,"," rows.

Meaning, i really need to press down on with the intent to break the keyboard to get flexing.

I don't type that hard and didn't notice it till you guys told me about it... it feels normal

Thanks for the feedback on the keyboard. I hope mine is as good as yours. I'm not hard on a keyboard and a little "give" or flex when pushing down hard, when one is inspecting it, is ok as far as I'm concerned. I'm not looking for perfection, just excellence as they have had in the past prior to the T400/500 issues.
.
Unbelievably mine is still in customs, today is the fifth day. I called customs direct today, escalated the call to a supervisor. He told me that the container of ThinkPads sitting there, are waiting for Lenovo to send the required documentation.
.
Thus I called Lenovo...Again! They said they have a "special team" assigned to resolve the problem. The stories are endless...heh!
.
In the meantime passing through that same customs station I have received three other laptops and four smartphones from other manufacturers this week without a single delay. An amazing testament to the level of organization present in the competitions operations.
.
Cheers...
