T500 keyboard flex again ...

#1 Post by ThinkPadTablet » Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:03 pm

Just recived my T500 preinstalled with XP. I have no idea why Intel Wifi 5100 drops connection every 5mins with my Linksys WRT54G-TM with DD-WRT ... nevermind because I will be upgrading to Win 7 Pro.

Well of course I played with keyboard a bit and I noticed that there is flex on the left side ... near qwesad keys but mostly at 2,3 or close to that. When I press Esc I can hear some metallic noise ...

I read somewhere that Lenovo went back to older keyboard design but they again switched to the screwed one ...

Its not a that big deal because I will get new keyboard. I already saw few threads and photos, so I would go for one which has as little as possible holes ... or could you recomend some keyboard which is better than that one ...

I never found a photo if Lenovo added that thin support frame like they did on T400 ? I see that it has a bit different screws than my X200 Tablet or X61s so I cant check this really now without proper tools...

My T500 was MFG 2009-12-25 so I think its pretty fresh and should have that [censored] support thing on the left ?

What do you think about this ? What else should I check to make myself sure that its okay ? I checked out for dead pixels and I have none luckily ...

Cheers

If you want less flex, get a T6x/R6x/Z6x keyboard. These are more solid.

Most people would recommend the NMB variant, although some prefer Alps...

Anybody can tell wat are the differences between those manufacturers ? and how to identify who made keyboard ?

Im looking for a real, solid keyboard with thinkpad feel. Would love if it was quiet and nice feeling.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=385913

Which one of those can you suggest ? Maybe I should get some other one ?

I believe that 39T7148 would be best because it has at least holes ?

Thanks

The FRU number will tell you the manufacturer. You can compare against these tables:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 64342.html

The above lists both pre- and post-revision FRUs. Despite the revision all these have a stiff backplate with none of the "swiss cheese" holes introduced in the T/Rx00 series.
