I have a T500 and installed Win 7 64bit and then used the Lenovo drive update software to install all the software/drivers. Everything works except the fingerprint reader. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it multiple times but still no go.
any hints to get it to work?
thanks

I ha the same exact problem, I tried everything including using the manufacturers software and that didnt even work. I ended up restoring from rescue disks tha came with the machine. Of course I did not want to use the version OS it shipped with but nothing helped. If you find anything out please share. It;s so frusterating.. now having trouble with Rescue and Recovery another unexplained issue. Hooray.

My fingerprints are nearly impossible to read electronically, so when I order a new ThinkPad I omit that option. Thus I'm not familiar with that subsystem. Be patient, this is a forum where all of us volunteer help. I'm sure someone will come along to help you.
.
Cheers...

Just a thought, did you use this specific driver?

Here's the solution that worked for me. I have a W500 I did a clean install of Windows 7 from Lenovo and was seeing the same problems trying to get my fingerprint reader to work.
Here's what I did:
1) Follow these instructions to disable automatic driver installation in Windows: Here
2) Uninstall the Lenovo fingerprint software
3) Uninstall the Authentec True Suite software.
4) Open the Device manager and uninstall the Authentec driver
5) Reboot
6) Re-enable Automatic driver installation. If you don't, the Lenovo SW won't install the driver.
7) Install the Lenovo fingerprint software.

Reboot
Hope this helps,
Jim

Just wanted to chime in that the above list of steps worked for me. (And I had to do the gpedit.msc thing to disable driver autoinstall).
