t400: vga to analog TV

Hi folks,

I know this has been addressed here and elsewhere before. The answer seems to be: no, you cannot use a simple cable to go vga to s-video or rca on a t400.

However, the AMD site for the Radeon 3400 (http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook ... specs.aspx) contains the following specs:
Integrated AMD Xilleon™ HDTV encoder
* Provides high quality analog TV output (component/S-video/composite)
* Supports SDTV and HDTV resolutions
* Underscan and overscan compensation

So, it seems like AMD is saying that YES, it *should* work, correct? Can anyone enlighten me here? I'd really like to be able to go VGA to RCA without a big converter box.

Thanks!

I attempted to attach a cable I bought off ebay to go to the tv. I was able to get a fuzzy black and white image of a quarter of my desktop on the screen, and nothing more. There were no drivers to help, but it seemed like it could be done if there were. Any way you look at it, if you want an image on the tv, get a dock and use the svideo output.

Hope this helps!
