W7/64 - Lenovo Update - Wireless SNAFU

#1 Post by Mike02906 » Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:16 pm

Just got my new T510 with Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) and the basic wireless card. It connected to my home network when I turned it on and transferred data perfectly. Then I ran Lenovo Update, which I believe updated the drivers for the wireless card. Now all diagnostics report the card is working fine, but it doesn't see my home wireless network (which my smartphone connects to fine). I am using the wired connection for now, but need to get wireless working soon.

Being new to Windows 7, I am at a disadvantage. I've tried letting Windows update the drivers, but still no luck.

Any help?

To add something -- Fn-F5 brings up the wireless radio power window. It shows the wireless card powered off. Pressing On does not change the status.

What antivirus are you using? I had a similar problem and it ended being my Kaspersky security suite. I uninstalled Kaspersky as well as all the necessary wireless drivers: Access connections, Intel wireless driver, hotkey driver, and there may have been another one. If you check the wireless driver's page on Lenovo there should be a list of requirements (think this is the one for your machine). After everything was removed I reinstalled the drivers first and Kaspersky last.
