I have 2GB of RAM in one slot. I just purchased another matching 2GB memory card.
The question is: Is there anything I need to do prior to installing the card other than removing the battery and dissipating and any static charge:

Since you are in AZ, it makes sense to dissipate any charge. Other than that, nope.
