T410 CPU Temps
T410 CPU Temps
While at idle (CPU utilization at or around 0 to 2% and CPU speed at 1200Mhz) my new T410 (2.66Ghz I7 Arrandale) idles at @ 65*C. That is a bit warmer than I am used to seeing on a Thinkpad. What do your idle temps look like? Use Coretemp as a quick tool to see what's up. The ambient room temp here is @ 18*C (65*F). By the way, the fan is on all the time. It's barely audible but it is always on ...

Re: T410 CPU Temps
43C idling on a 30C day, fan setting is at 1 and occasionally blips to 2. I have the i7-620m option with discrete graphics on my T410.
On a full load with 7zip running I've hit 69C after my little thermal paste reapplication. The bottom of the T410 did not feel anything more than "warm".

Re: T410 CPU Temps
I'm still waiting for my T410 to arrive.
However I have evaluated my T510 i7-620m, using Everest. In my office with an ambient temperature of 20 C, my T510 idles (no fan) at 32 C.
Cheers...

Re: T410 CPU Temps
Thanks for the replies...we need more data but based on Navck's reply I have some thermal work to do.
Re: T410 CPU Temps
Ok, we have a problem Houston...Everest reports idle temps as low as 39*C. So one of these tools (Coretemp or Everest) is wrong. I trust Everest more I suppose.
Edit: I also tried RealTemp, and it matches Everest.

Re: T410 CPU Temps
Harry,
I truly believe that Everest is accurate. I've also tried RealTemp and a few others in the past. Having used Everest for a few yrs, naturally I have the most experience or track record of my various ThinkPads using it, hence I trust it. I also think that my particular T510 just happens to run on the cool side. Prior to testing, out of curiosity & expecting the worst due to the i7 chip, I disassembled it, during visual inspection I didn't find an excess "blob" of thermal paste, it actually appeared evenly applied and in the right quantity & places. (Shock). So I decided not to rework it with Arctic Silver. Early this morning I decided to test an identical T510 I ordered for the office here at work. Again using Everest, it idles at 38C which is what I expected to see from mine. Hope this bit of info is of value to you.
.
