Hi,

I bought a reconditioned T500 with 3GB of RAM. I'm looking at selling the 1GB chip and replacing it with another 2GB to boost the RAM a bit, as I've tried running a couple of VM's and the RAM maxes out after only a couple of servers.

I looked at the Kingston brand, and their website says this RAM KTL-TP1066/2G is the correct one for my laptop, however I found a cheaper one with the same spec KVR1066D3S7/2G

My question is, are these two chips the same chip slightly rebadged? Looking at hte description, the cheaper one is used by Dell and the dearer one by Lenovo:

http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configu ... S7/2G&id=8

http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configu ... -TP1066/2G

If I go for the KVR1066D3S7/2G , my suspicion is that it won't be any different from the KTL-TP1066/2G.

Anyone able to confirm/deny this?

Regards,
Martin

Kiora Kartin ..

if you have :PC3-8500 1066Mhz DDR3 SODIMM Memory:; - you can basically put any mfg into your T500...... but generally you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR @@@
I would higly recommend a CAS =7 set of HYPER-X series from Kigston.
(no tra heat nor loss of baterry life and you get great boost of 'speed' and VERY RELIBALE !! we have 12 sets of these in various T & W series laptops under very HEAVY USE !!!

here is a link of various mfgs and prices(usa)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... gesize=100

I am using = Kigston Hyper-X series ( mine is special order of 2 x 4GB )
which is CAS = 7 , and that makes T & W series zing! ,,,,, we run multiple VMs etc for demo Apps etc

PM me if you need more helpCheers
