Novice with new T410s...help?

Hi,

I just got my new t410s laptop the other day, and it didn't come with any recovery or software cds/dvds.

What do I need to do with my new laptop as far as 'backing up' my system or 'making a recovery disc'? I've already installed firefox and imported a bunch of my photo files.

(For reference, my specs: win7prof64/ 4gb SDRAM/ 128gb SSD/McAfee Internet Security)

Also, which bloatware programs are safe to uninstall?

Is there anything else I should/need to do?

Thank you!

ThinkPads no longer come with recovery dvds as a cost saving measure. You can burn them off from you Thinkpad. It's usually a CD and two DVDs. It's on the start menu somewhere. I'd also suggest making a copy of the SWTools folder on the C:\ drive. It contains all the apps and drivers installed on your machine unless you bought additional software like Office, which should include a disc and a COA. Burn it onto a disc and viola, you've got a software disc.

As for the bloatware, you should uninstall anything you don't think you'll use. If you're unsure about something, google it. You could probably get rid of some of the Thinkvantage tools too as most don't use them all. I just use power manager hard drive protection myself, but since you've got a SSD, the HD protection probably isn't needed.

Don't forget to have some fun along the way. Isn't that what it's all about? Congrats. It's a fine machine. Welcome to Thinkpads.com.

Thanks for the tips, FredGarvin.

I'm definitely going to enjoy this T410s for a long time. So sleek and slim, ahhh.
