T410 - Slits in bezel near bottom of LCD screen

So, a long story short, I sent my T410 in to have the LCD screen repaired. I received back my laptop today and upon inspection, noticed something that I did not notice before. Two slits in the bezel to the left and right of the silver hinges - right where the bezel meets the screen.
I was wondering, is this normal or was my laptop butchered during repair?
See picture . . .

Anyhow, personally, I don't even think they touched the laptop.
They had the unit in their custody for 10 days (most of which was due to the needed part being on backorder). Once I called to inquire (complain) of the delay, the case was escalated. They had no idea of when the part would be arriving. Surprise surprise, the "repair" was complete the next day.
One would think after replacing hardware and running diagnostics with PC Doctor (as indicated on the repair sheet), that there would be more than two minutes worth of system logs during the time that they had the laptop.
Ohh ya, the original issue still persists. Whatever . . .

It's normal but due to removal it may not be as flush as it was when it came from the factory. Its not a biggie. Key is to see of the plastic case is flush ie linear and not warped at the edge.

It's not longer flush along the sides. I can see the backlight shining through.

download the manual and you can see how it is supposed to fit. for sure the backlight should not be shining through. my guess is its not properly seated. a few mm of a difference but no light should be bleeding through the frame. post some pics braddah and we can take a look.

Well, that's was not an easy picture to take

but you can see it here. It is most evident on the right side bezel.

That's a demonstrative pic. Firstly lets make sure we understand I have a T61 not a T410. But I dont see why that would make a difference. On mine, on the bottom and top all around there is no bleeding of light at the edges. On the left side about where yours is bleeding, I see a really really really tiny ray of light. I mean this is looking carefully from the other edge ie right edge straight ahead. About the slit of a needle I would say. This leads me to beleive it should generally be flush all around. These are hand assembled, especially in your case where you have had it opened up. If you see bleeding when facing the LCD then I think you need to send it back. I see none on mine and never even thought about it because there was never any unuaual light to warrant attention. Keep in mind T61's use CCFL not LED but I don't think it makes a difference. IF I hit the local computer shop tommorrow will try to remember to take a look at the display T410.

My T410 has that small slit on the left side as well. The bottom two do not have light but the left slit does.
Doesn't seem to be a bother.
Edit: Make that two, there is a lower left slit but it doesn't really show

I had those too. Oh no! I actually called IBM-SERV and have one of the tech visit me to replace the screen

.......
I don't think its predecessor has the slit though. Made me wondering what will happen if waterdrop slips through those bottom slits....

Waterdrop... Why? Virtually the same thing would happen if you were to have a waterdrop hit the bezel on another Thinkpad (Its not like they're hermetically sealed between the LCD and bezel...)
One of my fellow Thinkpad users believes it might be for that privacy filter accessory that Lenovo sells...
