Great suggestion. OK. lets get it back on track. Apologies if anyone found the side discussion offensive.

I don't really get too offended by much, and thanks everyone! It's depressing being from a generation that's full of slackers, but it's really easy to get ahead of them
I'm super excited for the laptop, is there any other ones you could even compare it to that are the same price?

Braddah, there is no subsitute for the T series. Some people might say certain Sony Vaio models, HP business NBs or Dell Latitude or even an Apple MacBook. But I think in terms of field replaceable parts, build quality, power management, and warranty response along with engineeering the T is ahead. You really have to see it taken apart to appreciate the engineering aspect of it. Just well designed versus others who try to replicate it. From a price perspective, its the best value too. Get that computer and pound on the slackers in college and aim high!rossmosis wrote:I don't really get too offended by much, and thanks everyone! My Ultra T410 Guide thread has my personal T410's insides shown if anyone wants to see the quality of engineering going into a T410.
Re: Starting college in the fall, looking at the T410
I'm a little late to this thread, but I can say, I ordered the basic b/g/n card in my 510T and am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with its performance. It can maintain a reliable and useful connection only when very close to an access point, perhaps 20 feet or so. Speed and reliability drop off quickly after that.LodenCorp wrote:how about the wireless card upgrades? which one is good to get?
The fancier cards have better reputations; in fact, I'm considering replacing my card with one of the better ones.
So my advice is, don't scrimp on this. For the rather minor cost, an upgrade will be more than worth it.
Enjoy.

It's a good thing I signed up here, I probably would've gone with the cheapest wireless setup on the laptop, now I'm definitely going with one of the better ones. Still deciding between a 6 and 9 cell battery though. I don't like how the 9 cell sticks out, but I don't like how the 6 cell doesn't last as long.

Braddah, you need to consider the battery life you need along with the weight and size of the AC brick. You do not want to carry both. If you know you will have to carry both then you go with the smaller battery.
