Questions about my new R50e -> T510 upgrade

#1 Post by Andrew » Fri Jun 04, 2010 7:17 pm

hi, i just upgraded from my 5 y/o R50e a few days ago to a new T510. however, i have some issues:

1.)how do i make bootable dvd recovery discs from rescue and recovery? i seem to be encountering problems with the discs i am using (or the drives). do i use "create rescue media" to make a full iso image or is that just a start up tool? i know before there was a start menu option to make the discs for one time only.

2.) where is the windows 7 product key? there appears to be no sticker on the bottom. do they not include product key stickers any more, or is it hidden?

thanks :)

1. "Create Rescue Media" is to access Rescue and Recovery tools when you're unable to start Windows. "Create Recovery Disks" is for restoring your ThinkPad to its factory-installed state.

2. The Windows license label (COA) should be underneath the battery (you need to remove the battery to see it).

I Love (all) ThinkPads...ThinkPad forever!

Thank you so much. :D I found the option to create "factory recovery disks" after going through the start menu and clicking "thinkvantage tools" (i was using the "thinkvantage toolbox" before. I got them made successfully. :) I also found the sticker under the battery. I just slipped the battery in when i opened it lol. Thanks again! :)
