Boot times for T410i

Hey everyone,
Just got my T410i in, and I'm really happy with the hardware and the overall feel of it. Nice and hefty, just like me. I am having a problem with the boot-up time though. It seems like it takes a good 5-10 minutes before everything is fully functional.

Is that normal? Did I uninstall something incorrectly? The main programs I've installed are ones I've always used and trust - Kaspersky, Office, etc.

Or is this about normal? It's been a while since I've had another computer besides my desktop which boots from a SSD.

Thanks!

5-10.... Minutes?
Thats off, my T410 with a 320GB 7,200RPM HDD boots in 22-25 seconds to desktop and ready with MSN messenger loaded up for me.

AV and software firewalls would be the usual culprits. Have you uninstalled them and remeasured your boot time? BTW, it should not take 5 mins. No notebook or OS except Windows ME should take longer than it takes to fry or boil an egg for breakfast to boot up. If you wish to retain your current setup, and the boot time makes your skin red then why not consider an SSD? Would go with Intel.

If you're really into the SSD market, Intel and WD are the only real choices in terms of competent controller and wear levelling design. I would not touch OCZ's SSDs with a 3.05m/10ft stick. Their RAM is good, however.
