Display Port ++ question

"Although DisplayPort's signal is not compatible with HDMI or DVI, Multi-Mode ports (which are marked with DP++ logo) can use DisplayPort wires to transmit HDMI and single-link DVI signals which are then converted by passive external adapters. Dual-link DVI and analog VGA are supported through powered adapters which perform active conversion.[2]"
Has anyone had success connecting an HDMI monitor to their DP++ Thinkpad? It sounds like it requires something like
THIS. Is that correct?
Thanks in advance
Mike

i use this

works like a charm.
be aware that most TVs automatically overscan the picture on hdmi cables, thus cutting the edges off.

I just got this cable to connect my t410i to my TV:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... 1&format=1
But I can't get it to display on my TV. It's odd because the Intel Video Software recognizes it as Panasonic Plasma TV. The problem is the HDMI input on my TV never lights up as selectable no matter what. I tried all 3 different HDMI ports on the TV, changing the resolutions, changing from clone, to extended display, and external only (which just shuts off my laptop display).
Anybody know what's going wrong? I hope it's not the cable. I wonder why it would recognize the TV if it can't connect.
e: my empty inputs were turned off on my TV

Is the refresh rate set to 60hz?
