I got a kingston memory board by mistake as the counter clerk knew
less than me.. :D
I wanted 1066 but he had given 1333.I put it under the lid in T400 and
everthing worked fine...no memory problems...
So...(1) why it worked
(2) what are the consequences in terms of speed

the 1333 had cl9 instead of cl7 so i dumped it back.

DDR3, DDR2, and DDR are downward compatible in terms of speed. The caveat is that the RAM will work at the speed of the bus of the laptop in which it is installed.

yes , but are 1066, 1333 ..Mhz ratings?or are they indicative of something else?.
1066 (i was emailed) is just 533 Mhz and 1333 is probably 667 Mhz. Am i right?

and from what Harry tells me 1333 should work as 1066 on my T400..
what about the CL9(1333) ..does it work as cL7(1066)?
Tell me,I am right,.
The dealers i deal with chargeme more for older memory types.
I can haggle with him to save for a good meal for myself and use only 1333.

It should work, but will run at CL9 if you mix CL7 and CL9 sticks. You won't notice a difference unless you are a gamer.
