Awful onsite service !

The only thing that needed to be replaced is the bezel/ palmrest. This guy was in rush and he wanted to replace it in less than a minute. He used excess force to remove the old bezel and then replaced it with the new one. He turned it on to check and it worked. I checked it after that and I found out that the left corner wasn't installed correctly and the screen latch was stuck and also touchpad and fingerprint reader were not working. I called him and he came back he removed the keyboard to reconnect the bezel connector and tried to push the left corner. I told him the latch won't work so he opened it and fixed it( or I thought so). I found out again that it was a temporary fix I called him back he did his things again without fixing it. I decided to call Lenovo after he leaves, I removed the bezel and found out that he broke the latch from the inside because of his excessive force. I replaced another bezel that he left ( wrong part number) and now I ended up with more problems than my initial problem. I called Lenovo and asked for a new part so I can do it myself.

I think this is the last time I use onsite service. I had bad experience with Sony and now Lenovo. Outsourcing without training causes problems!

I don't know how comfortable you are replacing it on your own. AFAIK a palmrest and bezel is customer replaceable without voiding your warranty. This means you can get Lenovo to send you the parts and make sure you specify what part numbers and do it yourself. With my T400 it only takes a couple of minutes and will be easier the next time you have to get inside your Thinkpad again.

If you go this route download the HMM and be careful not to tighten those screws too tight! I do mine finger tight.

I had good luck with my keyboard and my experiences with the Atlanta center were just "easy peasy." I am not sure what would happen if you got a hold of India though. Best of luck to you.

Actually for the T510/W510 Bezel is not a customer replaceable part, but anyway I asked Leneovo to send me the part because It's not a big deal. They didn't want to send it first because they said it's not a CR one.

I think informing lenovo about the 'quality' of the repair guy's work might be a good thing to do.

I didn't :(

I got the bezel today and I installed it, still have the same old creaking problem and the keyboard flexes. Also the fingerprint reader doesn't work. I think I'll deal with these issues after I come back from my vacation. I really wish that I ignored the sound in the first place and lived with it, but the thing was that I expected higher quality from Lenovo.

On the bezel, try removing the HDD cover and reseating it. I found that when I removed mine and reseated it, I had some creaking off my T410 (Which didn't creak at all from before.) Pushing it slightly with the screw loosened then retightened fixed the problem.

The other option is to put an index card or a few under the bezel.
