closed lid problem...

#1 Post by IAMBATMAN » Mon Jul 05, 2010 8:29 pm

i like to listen to coast to coast am while i fall asleep and i usually just set my notebook to not sleep/shut off when i close the lid. i have changed 'what closing the lid does' on both the thinkvantage software and on the windows power manager to 'do nothing' while on battery or plug but the speakers still turn off when i close the lid. the computer doesnt sleep or anything, the screen jsut turns off and so do the speakers. how do i correct this?

I wasn't aware of this. I'm assuming you're talking about the laptop's internal speakers and not external speakers plugged into the audio jack. If you configured lid closing to "do nothing", I would expect it to actually do nothing. Must be hardwired into the machine via the BIOS to turn of screen and speakers. But why would you try to listen to the T410's speakers with the lid closed? The screen bezel on the sides would totally block them.

i has a 510 and i use my notebooks for absolutely everything when im not asleep so they usually charge on my nightstand. i am listening to talk radio trying to fall asleep so i dont want to be able to see the screen so i need to close it. on every other note book i have had i close the lid and i can still hear the speakers alright but this thinkpad is being whack.

If you hit FN-F3 it will turn the internal LCD off.

I'm wondering about the original issue though - is this a bug or a feature? Someone else experienced it? It never happened to me on any of my laptops (I didn't try a T510 though).
