T410 ESATA hot-swappable?

Hi Y'all,

Got a like-new T410.

Am looking at the Addonics ESATA~Compact Flash card reader for fast downloading of large CF cards.

The Addonics reader needs the ESATA port to be hot-swappable.
Am assuming the T410 port is, but does anybody know for sure?

Thanks and good health, Weogo

I think that any Thinkpad port that is non-legacy is hot-swappable. So parallel, serial, and PS2 ports are not hot-swappable, while USB, eSATA, Firewire, PCMCIA, Ultrabay, etc. are hot swappable.

I think the read/write speed of the card itself is going to have more impact on file transfer speeds than the eSata connection. A Class 10 SDHC card will read/write a lot faster than a Class 6 or 4. I don't know if the same standards apply to the Compact Flash format.
