Fingerprint scanner Problem

I opened the settings and set it to log in my windows and start it up with a fingerprint scan but how do I know if it's ready to scan or not? No green flashing when I open it.

Also, how can I get the fingerprint scanner to save passwords on IE8? Thanks. I wanted to use Chrome but it won't work for some reason so I went to IE8 and now that doesn't work, thanks.
