AC Adapter HOT

My previous machine was a T43 and the AC adapter got only slightly warm at worst. My new T410 adapter gets HOT. And if it's quiet, I even notice a slight buzz sound. Should I be worried (possible fire hazard)? Get a replacement? Or is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Is it a 65W or a 90W adapter? Post the FRU# on the adapter if unsure. You might want to consider getting a 90W or even a 135W adapter if it's one of the previous and it gets 'that hot'.

It is indeed a 65W. Weird, why would this get hotter? Just checked it again, by the way, and it was plugged into the wall but not the computer, cool but buzzing until I unplugged it.

It would get hotter because it's smaller (than a 90W) and has a smaller heatsink to dissipate heat. Any adapter is going to run warm while charging a battery though.
