T400s warranty extension
T400s warranty extension
Hi!
I bought a used T400s. It has only 6 months warranty left. Is it possible to extend it?
Thank you!

Re: T400s warranty extension
I don't know if it's different in Europe, but most likely yes. One caveat would be if it's already been extended once, like if it was bought with a one year warranty and then upgraded to a 2 year warranty, it cannot be extended a second time. That scenario seems unlikely with a T400s. Here's a link to the warranty service upgrades parts list. Again, I don't know it's the same across the pond.

Thanks!
It can be extended, as it had just 1 year warranty by default.
It is 2801 CTO. I've never seen TP without 3 year warranty. Maybe this is because of the CTO?
It was 1000 €. Was it a good deal?
SP9600, 8GB Ram,DVDRW
256gb Samsung SSD (220/200), Full Disk Encryption, Trim
14.1in 1440x900 LCD, LED light MULTITOCH
Ericsson hsdpa modem, Bluetooth, wlan
Fingerprint reader. 2MP Camera,
Intel turbo memory modul
Multitouch touchpad

Re: T400s warranty extension
I have an Ericsson F3507G broadband modem in the notebook.
As it was originally released in the UK, it not accepts my SIM card.
What can I do?
As I found it on the net the card is not locked to the provider, just the Mobile Broadband Connect has limitation.
Is there a version where there is no limitation?
Is it possible to remove this limitation (pay fro Lenovo to remove)?
Thank you!

Re: T400s warranty extension
I have never heard about a warranty less than 3 years send-in for T-Series. Maybe the 1 year warranty is a result of order specifications of the CTO-modell. Did you already checked the warranty status at the Lenovo website. Usually the warranty starts by date of production unless either a warranty extension has been registrered or the original sales invoice was send to the warranty entitlement team.
My opinion: a real good deal with 8 GB RAM an the big SSD (although I don't like the image quality caused by Multitouch). Are the 1000 € with VAT (taxes) included? A used modell or a new one or demopool?
I would suggest to upgrade to 3-, 4- or 5-year onSite-Warranty, if you like with insurance (display crash, damages by liquid, ...) included.
Usually it should be possible to have the UMTS modem patched to accept all SIM cards by contacting the Lenovo support hotline. Once having the SIM-Lock removed Lenovo will not provide support for the UMTS card anymore. You could also look into the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the T400s (HMM) to see which UMTS-cards will also fit (SIM-Lock-free ones). The exchange of the UMTS-Card can be done easily by yourself - you will just need a fitting screw driver.

Re: T400s warranty extension
I made a clean install on the notebook.
Since then the modem accept all sim cards - so it seems taht the preloaded software was Vodafone locked.
The warranty is really one year, even the Thinkwantage toolbox shows 179 days.
It is 6 months old, but never used (battery had 1 cycle). I paid 1000 with VAT.
