audio thumbnails stopped working

The preview handler and thumbnails for mp3 and other audio files stopped working. This happened once before, and i corrected it using system restore. However that hasn't worked this time. I have got the preview working, but the thumbnails don't work. I have a Lenovo T410 with Windows 7 64 bit. Can anyone help?
