T410 Graphics

Hi, all!

Long time lurker.. first time registerer. You guys have been invaluable to be since my early days of administering the R51 series (they were older at the time).

Anyhow:

I went to a show and actually won a T410 a couple of months back - a nice package, notable step up from the T43/T60s that have been the ones I've used recently. Sadly, the laptop has only Intel integrated graphics.

(My machine is a 2518-C2U, incidentally).

I'm pretty sure that I know the answer to this - but is there any avenue that I might be able to try with Lenovo to get the NVS 3100M discreet graphics? I've not had the unit open, but I've had to take apart many a Thinkpad over the past 5 years due to the various tendencies of the platforms... ... so that wouldn't be a stumbling block.

Err - sorry, it's not the 3100M - got my models confused. It's the 5700.

There' s only (2) ways to get discrete graphics. Purchase a system board with discrete graphjcs. Sell the laptop and purchase one with discrete graphics.

Ah - well, that's unfortunate. Hard to complain about something that is free, though!
