Safe to remove 'intel graphics media accelerator driver'?

Hi,
I have a T400 with a Advanced dock port replicator and I trying to use a KVM so I can share the Keyboard, mouse and DVI monitor with my desktop PC.
I have purchased an Aten cs682 and whilst the keyboard / mouse works perfectly the DVI output only seems to work once in a while. Most of the time the thinkpad output does not appear on the monitor. Messing around with output modes (e.g. extend desktop / clone desktop / projector only) occasionally results in the T400 output appearing on the DVI monitor - but once I hibernate or shutdown and then resume / restart I am back to square one - no output from the KVM to the monitor.
I am wondering if the Intel Screen output control stuff (ie clone/extend etc) is badly interacting with the Lenovo Fn+F7 screen output control software and wondering if its ok to remove the Intel bit - does this package include the actual hardware graphics driver too or just the fancy screen control stuff?
Alternatively can I unistall whatever is responsible for the Fn+F7 stuff?
I know I could just go ahead and try it but am loath to mess up an otherwise fully working system.....
Thanks in advance..
