T400 issue with hard disk space

I got a T400 with 250GB HDD. C: partition is saying size as 221GB and free space as 123GB.

I used Moleskin Directory Size tool to know what really is consuming 98GB of HDD. Directory Size tool is saying total size consumed as 35GB, which is normal. It's the same in my desktop pc as well. I did not install/uninstall much applications in my laptop. Uninstall operation is done on laptop only 4-5 times for some very small applications.

Anyone got any idea what is taking 63GB of my laptop HDD ?!!!

Rescue and Recovery, and Windows System Restore are a couple good candidates.

FredGarvin is correct. Go into Rescue and Recovery and delete the restore points.

Thanks FredGarvin. Your comments helped me free up around 33GB of space (30GB for backup and 3GB for windows recovery). But there still is around 30GB space not accounted for. Any idea ?!!

Btw, it's strange that Rescue and Recovery is not allowing to backup to a mapped network drive. Also, I do not think any compression is applied to backups. A basic ZIP compression would be nice.

Try running a full CHKDSK to see if there is anything funny with the filesystem (allocated chunks where there actually isn't anything). Don't forget to make a new restore point now that you've wiped your old ones.
