Hi guys, my name is David Montoya and i'm from Colombia. I have been using a T400 laptop, and it worked fine for a few months. Recently, i have been experimenting problems when i move the laptop (f. ex: when i take it to my university), and, before booting, it shows this error text :
"error 2100: HDD hard disk drive initialization error 2".

After a few hours of "relax", my T400 boots fine again.

I have read read a lot of forums, and nobody knows how to help me.

Do you know what can i do?

Thank you.

PD: I'm using my T400 as a desktop, it works fine in that way.
PD: Probably i'll find more problems trying to fix this issue, because i'm using Ubuntu 10.04

Lenovo Thinkpad T400:
-Ubuntu 10.04 OS
-M a t s u s h i t a 500GB HD
-Core 2 Duo T9400.
-4GB DD3 .

You sure it's a Panasonic HDD?

It just sounds to me however that the HDD is dying so start backing up your data. After you let the HDD "relax" it cools down and boots just fine but once it's hot again it has trouble reading the drive. That's what usually happens when it's dying.

Call Lenovo (if you have warranty) and get another one but first thing is to backup your data to an external HDD.

Get your data off ASAP, then run EVEREST to check the drive's SMART data to see if it's failing.
