Good morning.

I am considering purchasing a T510 and looking at various configurations. This T510 will replace my wife's aging T60 which has lost it's VGA output. She travels frequently with it and also uses it as her primary unit at home. I have read most of the posts, reviews, and specs available for this unit. I am looking at the Core I7 processor with 4 gigs of memory, Win7 64, HD* screen, Nvidia 512 graphics card. If I purchase the single dimm 4 gig memory option, will that single dimm be under the keyboard or on the bottom under the memory "hatch"? Also, any suggestions on which WiFi adapter. She has the fingerprint scanner on her T60, but she says she can take it or leave it. She would like as much battery life as possible for cross country flights, so any suggestions on options to add or deduct to achieve this would also be appreciated.

Thanks for any and all help or suggestions before i make my final decision and shell out the bucks.

Hi Al -- I suggest you get the most expensive wifi adapter. I got the cheapest, since the Lenovo-provided specs are the same for all of them, and it doesn't work reliably except with extremely strong signals. Lenovo replaced the card, and operation is still the same. I had to buy an external USB adapter to use, after spending $1250 on a laptop! Save yourself the aggravation, and get the best one they sell.

My version has the smallest battery, and it lasts for about 2:30 to 3:00 on flights. She will probably want a bigger one. I believe the add-in graphics cards suck the battery faster than integrated graphics (which are enough for me).

On the rest, I have no particular advice, other than to say I've been using W7/64 with no compatibility problems.

Hope that helps.

I highly recommend choosing FHD option and get it from Lenovo education if you're eligible (somewhat cheaper).
