T510 Touchpad Issue

#1 Post by suey29 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 7:59 am

Hey Folks - need some help with a T510.

Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the ultranav drivers for WinXP - the touchpad on the laptop is being detected as a generic PS/2 mouse. This prevents ultranav from being installed correctly. My end user simply wants to modify the sensitivity of the touchpad and is unable to do so without Ultranav.

I have disabled/renabled the device, uninstalled from device manager and reinstalled, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to end up reimaging this machine for what seems to be such a simple problem. :?

You might try taking the wrist rest off and check the connection of the ribbon cable going to the motherboard. Look at the bottom and take the screws where it shows a symbol for memory. The wrist rest should pivot towards you from the space bar.

The other thing that you can try is to install the Synaptics driver, I have done this on a T500 and got the two finger scrolling working. Click the link below for info.

The driver link is in the comments at the bottom of page 1.
