About T410

Hi all,

I am expecting my T410 tomorrow. But all I hear about it here are only complaints about it. I am wondering, did I take the right decision? Is the T410 that bad?

Any thoughts?

thanks,
Aditya

Most people don't write on the forums unless they have a problem...

T410 looks to be one of the best Thinkpads Lenovo ever released.

There are two specific aspects of it that really irritate me (I'm rather picky about some things), but if you don't immediately notice them on your own then I suspect you never will.

With the caveat that I don't know what you paid for it, what it's replacing, or what you intend to use it for, I'd say yes, you probably did.

As mine is a work machine I haven't put it through the same paces as my personal machines, but I do think that overall it's a very solid laptop with an excellent design, both aesthetically and functionally.

The only deal-breaker that I could think of would be if you were to require a highly-accurate screen with a wide viewing angle -- but in that case you're gonna have trouble with the entire modern laptop market!

A lot of consumer laptops seem to have pretty good viewing angles. Better than the average Thinkpad that's for sure.

If they're something that will bother you, you'll know within 30 seconds of getting the machine. If not, you'll probably never notice them until someone points them out -- and I don't want to be "that guy". :D

Indeed. It's not really a problem for a lot of users though. Sure, the viewing angles and contrast on my T410 are absolute rubbish, but since I spend nearly all my time in an IDE or a terminal window that doesn't really matter much. Is the color reproduction good? Not at all... but it's good enough for me to see my chosen syntax highlighting palette, and that's all that matters to me.

Generally, I love my T410 that I got in July. I'll agree the screen viewing angle is bad, but aside from these minor, quirky problems below, it's been great. No regrets here!

I have had no problems. But in general, all my computers (even non-Thinkpads) are much more reliable than those of a decade ago.
