After adjusting some of the settings in the Synaptics control panel, I've finally gotten two finger scrolling and back and forward gestures working reliably on my T410s. It's still not Apple-smooth, but why it comes so crippled out of the box is beyond me...
Anyhow, I'd love to be able to assign a gesture to activate key combinations - specifically alt-tab or some derivative for application switching. As far as I can tell, Synaptics only gives you options to launch a program from a gesture. Anyone have any ideas how to accomplish this?
Touchpad gesture configuration?

Re: Touchpad gesture configuration?
Not sure... The Tap Zones seem to be able to be configured to simulate keystrokes.
Is there a particular key combination you'd like a gesture to do? I'm sure a tiny Visual Basic program would do the trick.

Re: Touchpad gesture configuration?
Yes, the zones can be set, but you can only choose from their pre-set actions. Basically what I'd like to do is be able to bring an Expose-like task switching gesture into my work-flow on this computer. Alt-tab in Win 7 is similar, in that you can mouse over and choose the window you want, and I have also tried some Expose clones that are ok, and can be triggered by a keystroke. I'm sure it could be written, but I'm no programmer, and I'm sure other people have similar wishes, so hoping someone else has something ready to go!
Re: Touchpad gesture configuration?
Just an update - haven't found a solution to my question yet, but I did come across a Synaptics project called Swype that almost does what I want - it allows you to use a variety of gestures to initiate shortcuts, and it works pretty well - the problem is that it is not user-configurable! So close!
Anyhow, I also wanted to say that after tweaking, I'm growing to quite like the touchpad on this laptop. I've been a die-hard trackpoint user - and it's still ideal when you are typing - but the touchpad is much nicer for relaxed web browsing. The two finger scrolling and forward/backward gestures are working great.
