Rescue and recovery prefabricated T400?

#1 Post by tonn » Sun Oct 31, 2010 6:07 am

Hello!
If I want to erase all my data on the HDD and put the T400 prefabricated condition. Important thing is, if I do that with rescue and recovery media, is it same as HDD low level format? I want to sell it some day, and I do not want to anybody get my deleted files. Ok, there is always possibility to restore those files, but I do not want to that every file restore programs can restore those files etc GetDataBack.

Rescue and recovery does not do a low level format but it does delete the partitions on the drive. If you are that worried use a tool like Active@Kill Disk first, then use the recovery CD's. If you don't have a set of recovery CD's, make a set prior to erasing the current drive.

I tried with killdisk free version. In the option there was a choice to choose retry attempts, i did not know how many were best but i choose default, 5 times! Is that ok? http://www.killdisk.com/notes1.htm In there is described, what are retry attempts.
