T510 High pitched whine

Unfortunately my new T510 has the high pitched whine problem some have mentioned. Looking at this thread on the Lenovo forums it appears that many others are having the problem too. That thread is already 16 pages long.

The noise is louder and more irritating than anything I've heard in other laptops. I wish I would have been aware of the issue before I ordered the T510.

My T510 is as quiet as a mouse. If it made a whining noise I'd get on to Lenovo's warranty support people.

I am happy to hear that you have a silent T510! Maybe I can get lucky and exchange this unit for one that is quiet.

According to posts in the thread mentioned above Lenovo repairs don't fix the problem and the Lenovo reps state they are still trying to find the problem.

If you have a T510 that is silent would you please put up a post listing any USB devices you use often and what percentage of the time you are running off of the battery.

Hi TrailRunner: Did you return your "noisy" T510 and request a replacement? I am in the same boat - got a new T510 with an i5-560M processor which whines continuously when the CPU Power Management setting in the BIOS is enabled. I am considering a return and exchange and would like to know your experience if you have already initiated a return/exchange. Thanks!
