T410i: Improper power meter reading

I am using a T410i. [Win 7 Pro, Intel Core i3-330M (2.13GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz), 2GB, 320GB/7200rpm, Intel HD Graphics.]

My power meter was showing that I have 50% power left. But then, i got a message saying that as my battery is 6% my machine is going to hibernate. Then my power meter showed 6%. All my softwares are upto date.

Is it as serious issue of is it fine??? This same thing has repeated a couple of times.

Just for your info, I have couple of other issues also. Not sure if these are causing the issue with the battery.
  • If my track point and touch pad are active, i get a "Synaptics TouchPad Enhancements has stopped working" error. Tried updating the drivers many times. But no luck. Now I have set to "only track point".
  • My machine is rather slow and bumpy compared to my compaq with win xp sp2 running on dual core with 1gb ram. I know its not a proper comparison. I know win 7 is much diff compared to win xp.
I am not sure if these errors are related.

Pls advice.

The sudden decrease in battery life is probably a defective battery.

There are lots of reports of SynTPEnh.exe crashing randomly, but the newer drivers are supposed to have taken care of it.

Define slow?

When i swipe my finger in the reader during log in it takes about 1min just to load. With just firefox on 8 tabs and vlc playing music. The machine takes about 10 sec just to respond. For my winxp on 1gb ram, even 15 tabs was fine.

Is it better if you type in the password rather than using the fingerprint reader?

No visible difference. Both are same.
