How to wake T410 with external keyboard

#1 Post by CMargol » Sun Nov 07, 2010 3:39 pm

Hello,

I have my T410 with Windows 7 pro 32 bit hooked up to an external monitor. I would like to be able to "wake" my computer from sleep mode by pressing the Enter key (or another key) on an the external keyboard. This worked when I had my T60 hooked up to an external monitor/keyboard, but does not work with the T410. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Christopher

Admittedly, I cannot answer this question - but I am curious - how did you setup your T60 to wake from external keyboard? I haven't figured out how to do it with mine yet.

I just got lucky - didn't do anything in particular. I simply plugged the usb keyboard into the T60, and it just happens to wake the computer when I press the enter key.

Did you check in the BIOS for any "wake on event" settings? Maybe one of them is keyboard events?

No I have not - I'm not a very savvy computer user and am not sure how to check or where to check in BIOS. I would be reluctant to change anything my BIOS unless I had specific instructions. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Christopher

Update:

Since I posted this topic/question, I recently updated my external monitor from an old (circa 2002) Samsung Syncmaster 191t to a newer (circa 2009) Samsung Syncmaster 2443, and now my T410 wakes when I press any key on the external keyboard or move the external mouse. Therefore, the inability for my T410 to wake before may of had something to do with being connected to a monitor with older technology/drivers? As mentioned earlier, my T60 would wake with the old monitor but the T410 would not, and now with the newer monitor connected, the T410 wakes with the external mouse/keyboard. Hope this info is useful. Thanks to all who responded to my post.

Best Regards,

Christopher
