well just got a new T410 and the thing that is driving me nuts is the poor scrolling, as you move down the browser the unit just stops scrolling. it gets to be a real frustration. everything else is fine . ( I don't use the trackpad) so anyone have this happen to them? any fix?

Which operating system, which browser, and what are you using to scroll with...the keyboard?

Are there any other symptoms? Does CPU usage max out or does the HDD light start blinking rapidly/staying solidly lit?

I'm using win7 x64, just pressing the left mouse button while sitting on the right side scroll bar and dragging down the bar, it will just turn from dark to light and stop scrolling intermittently. it seems to be a software glitch as the switch on the mouse key seems good for every other use. tried uninstalling the pad driver but no joy.

I agree 100% on the scrolling, I am using the red button with the center button pressed works great. Too bad this machine really rocks. Expecting a really bad display but the 1440x900 is really great, definitely designed for prolonged use. I really have know complaints except the scrolling on the trackpad.

It's a ThinkPad. What on earth are you using the trackpad for anyways?

It might be a specific browser problem, or it might just be some of the touchpad configurations.
I hear you can improve the touchpad significantly if you mess with the touchpad settings.
Most people hate on the new touchpad based on the following logic:
Assume A: The smooth touchpad worked well.
Assume B: The textured touchpad does not work well.
Assume C: Default settings were not changed.
Given A and B, it would be intuitive to isolate the new texture is the problem. However, with premise C, one can also ascertain that the touchpad settings are the issue. Most often, it is rather the touchpad settings rather than the texture itself, yet most people jump to the erroneous conclusion because it is the most noticeable change.

Lenovo took good care of me by sending a new keyboard 1 day air. it cured the problem as the left mouse button was intermittent. I don't think any other company treats claims this well.

Oops, you said you didn't use the trackpad... My bad.
Anyway, it's good to hear your problem has been fixed so quickly! Keep the original keyboard; once this one gets shiny, you can just swap the keycaps on them

Actually the textured trackpad works fine, very sensitive to touch. For some reason it does not like to kick into scroll mode consistently.
