My Intel Centrino Ultimate 6300 AGN can't connect 300 MBPS!!

Hi all,

I got my T510 for a while. But I always wonder why my Intel Centrino Ultimate 6300 AGN can't connect 300 MBPS (the maximum speed). I use TP-Link WR1043ND, which can definitely allow me to use 300 MBPS wirelessly. And I checked the intel website, it said the wireless network card is able to connect up to 450 MBPS. So can anyone help me to configure the network card and the router so that I can use the max speed? Thank you very much in advance!!!

Here's a review that says they only got 117Mbps out of it. I think you need to contact the manufacturer.

Your router only operates on the 2.4GHz WiFi band, while your Intel 6300 card will not attempt (correctly according to the final 802.11n spec) to make wide channel connections in that band.

You will need to get a 802.11n compliant router that supports dual band operation in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands to achieve the wide channel operation necessary to get ~300Mbps raw link speed connections.

Attempting wide band 802.11n wide channel operation in the 2.4GHz band is very anti-social for 802.11b/g users in the vicinity.

Cheers,

Bill B.

anti-social or not, setting your router to a 40mhz channel width will enable 300mpbs over 2.4ghz.
the actual transfer speed you get out of this will be nearer 100-150 mbit.

blackomegax is right. You need to set both the wifi card and router to 40mhz to get full 'n' speeds. The default setting in my 5300agn was 20mhz only (change it to auto), same with the tomato firmware in the router.

Hi, i know this is an old topic, i also have a Ultimate-N 6300 on my T410 but it just won't connect anything more than 54mbps on my WRT-310N, even after changing every settings.

I only manage to get it up to 130mpbs if I set the WRT-310N to N-mode only, but then all my Iphone, Ipad then won't be able to connect.

Any idea? or anyone can help?

Thanks

It's because your router has to talk at the lowest common speed (your iPad and iPhone should have 802.11n 2.4GHz radios tho...). Most likely one of the other devices is a G-only device and forces the router to max out at 54Mb/s.

The situation hasn't changed.... 40Mhz operation on the 2.4Ghz band is still considered anti-social in the full release version of the 802.11n specification.

The WRT-310 only operates in the 2.4Ghz band..... you really need a dual band router that support simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5GHz band traffic if you want straightforward 802.11n operation.

If you get something like an Linksys e4200 router (which is a full dual-band, 3 x 3 configuration), using your 6300 card you will get up to 450Mbps raw link speed on your 802.11n connections.

Cheers,
